The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) established the Pennsylvania Statewide English Learner (EL) Trainer Network to provide greater access to high quality state-approved professional learning opportunities for educators of English learners in the commonwealth. The Network offers workshops on topics related to policies, regulations and compliance procedures, as well as curriculum, instruction, assessment and school culture.
Trainers are selected by PDE and represent Intermediate Units and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) from across the state, with particular attention to ensuring that the Network reflects the rich diversity of Pennsylvania.
Trainings include workshops that are developed by PDE staff, Network trainers and content experts from throughout the nation. All trainings offered by the Network have been peer-reviewed by researchers and classroom teachers, and have been approved by PDE.
